Maximillian Boxer is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative journey began during lockdown, when daily sketching and painting became both a focus and an escape from the uncertainty of the time. Inspired by observational drawing and the changing character of everyday places, he developed a practice rooted in curiosity, experimentation and a desire to understand how images communicate.
Since then, his work has evolved across illustration, painting, stencil-based spray techniques and digital media, informed by his role within the contemporary art and fine art reproduction world. Based in Margate, Max owns 'Archival Print' a giclee print studio.
Constant exposure to different artists, materials and processes continues to shape his creative development, reinforcing his belief that art is an ongoing process of exploration rather than a fixed destination.
Practice
Experimentation sits at the heart of Maximillian's work, with much of his print collection created through layered stencil and spray-paint techniques. Drawn to the challenge of reducing an image to its essential shapes, colours and forms, he uses the stencil-making process to simplify complex subjects into bold, graphic compositions.
