Hannah Rollings

Original Acrylic, Oil, Oil Stick + Flashe on Linen Canvas

Eure Valley, After Monet is an expressive contemporary landscape painting created en plein air in Normandy, France, following Hannah Rollings’ visit to Monet’s garden in spring. The work explores the relationship between observation, impressionism and the physical act of painting outdoors.

Rollings strips the landscape back, allowing the impressionistic mark to take greater emphasis as she responds to the tree line and its reflections. Much of the raw linen has been deliberately left visible, creating a subtle warmth across the composition and a direct connection with the place in which it was painted.

Exhibited at Babington House, Soho House, Somerset as part of Hannah Rollings’ collection launch and artist talk, this original artwork offers a contemporary interpretation of the French landscape and the enduring influence of plein air painting.
